Lawn Repair: Case Study

Repairing Bare Ground

A patch that was bare of lawn began treatment with IrriGator and Hortico Lawn Repair on the 13th of April 2014.

The initial state of this bare patch is illustrated in Figure 1. The surface of the bare patch was cleared of mattered materials and loosened up with a rake. A fork was then used to aerate the soil by poking holes approximately 10cm in depth and spacing.

The Hortico Lawn Repair seed was then spread evenly and according to instructions over the prepared bare patch. Fertilizer is included with the seed and provides support to the new lawn in becoming established.

Traffic was diverted around the bare patch which was hand watered with IrriGator daily (see Figure 2). This case study concluded on the 13th of May 2014, and the overall improvement to the bare patch can be seen in Figure 3.

IrriGator continuously supplied general nutrients (fertilisers), bio-stimulants and trace elements whilst the co-polymer (water retention agent) held these nutrients and water near the new roots. The availability of nutrients and water allows ease of uptake and promotes new root growth by establishing a healthy balance of the growth hormones: cytokinin, auxin and gibberellic acid.
